I listen to podcasts a lot, especially when I’m doing design work. I think they’re a great way to get information across, tell a story or just make people laugh. They are relatively cheap to create and simple to put together, or so I have read! I’m really inspired by Chris Hardwick of Nerdist. He built a whole company around the notion of just doing something. If you want to create, then do it.
I also did a search for engineering podcasts and couldn’t really find any. I’ve been a STEM Ambassador for a few years and a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the Women in Engineering Society. Communicating engineering is so important, not just the rich history Britain has but also all the amazing work that’s going on right now.
We’re going to build a space port! In Cornwall!
I think a podcast would be a great way to contribute to the communication of what engineering is, and why its so important. I think it could be really successful, as a simple but effective way to inform and interest people in engineering.
