I spent 6 years doing my undergraduate degree (switched in year 2), 1 year doing a post grad degree and then 4 years doing a PhD, so I had my student discount for about 11 years.

I studied in college for seven years to become an engineer – it was a long hard slog, but well worth all the effort.

I’m actually still at university, in totally I’ll spend nearly 8 years at university!

I did three years doing my first degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics, studying aeroplanes and satellites. Then I did another year for a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering.

I’m now doing a PhD, which is a 3-4year degree where I do my own research project and then write it all up into a big book called a thesis at the end.

You don’t need to spend all that time at university to be an engineer, I just wanted to explore different parts of engineering and I love Biomedical Engineering so much I wanted to do research in the area.

I had a 5 year apprenticeship before I was classed as finished, 4 years of collage 1 day a week.

But I learn all the time, mainly in my own time, new CAD and CAM software all the time new technologies

I’m still technically a student 😀 never leaving the education system best years hahaha

So when I came to the UK I had to do 1 year of foundation year, then I did 3 years of Bachelor in Engineering (no placement year, because the £ currency was very expensive, and I was self-funded, so I prefer to finish my degree asap before the currency got even more expensive), then I did one year for my Masters of Science, and now I’m on the beginning of the 3rd year of my Engineering Doctorate (one year and few months left), so by the time I finish my Doctorate it will be 9 years 😀 It might sound like a long time, but don’t forget the student discounts you will get….. 😀
