• Question: What advice would you give to any girls/women looking to get into engineering/science?

      1. Study well, not only STEM subjects, but also everything else. you want to be a well-rounded engineer/scientist who is able to do everything well. Communication, presentations, time-management skills are just as important as your STEM subjects.
      2. Be confident, there is no difference between men and women doing science/engineering, at the end of the day we are all called engineers or scientists, it’s not important what your gender is.
      3. Don’t let some people’s opinion about girls can’t be engineers/scientists change your mind, there is nothing unordinary in these fields that would make it impossible for girls.
      4. Read and watch things that will broaden your knowledge about engineering/science, even some simple things
      5. Train yourself to ask loads of questions, good engineers/scientists are always asking questions, they question everything, it makes you think deeply about something, you find better solutions, you learn more.
      6. Do voluntary work, looks good on your CV (this one is for everyone 😀 )

      Keep working hard, the world needs more women in STEM, and there is no reason for girls to think that is not for them, don’t let anyone tell you that.

      1) GO FOR IT and don’t let anyone hold you back. Your career choice is totally about you, not about the people who want to try and stop you.
      2) Work hard at the STEM subjects (and other ones too) and show how good you are. Doing the best you can in exams opens the most opportunities for you.
      3) Find what you love, by reading and searching and asking questions. Engineering and science is fascinating with so many different aspects that there’ll be something for you, you just have to find it.
      4) Do work experience or volunteer work to show your interest and get experience in engineering.
      5) Don’t shy away from opportunities because you’re not sure if you’re good enough. You won’t ever get the opportunity if you don’t apply!
      6) Speak up. By that I don’t be shout and be arrogant, but don’t let someone else make your voice smaller because they are talking over you.
      7) Ask questions. (I’ve said this already, but it’s important so I’m putting it again)

      At the end of the day, no job should be about what your gender is. We’re all people and we should be getting jobs based on how good we are, not by things we can’t control.
