No I didn’t always want to be an engineer. When I was a kid I wanted to be a heart surgeon but an open heart surgery documentary changed my mind, after that there were many things I wanted to be, lawyer, architect, dentist, interior designer, engineer. but then as I got older and gathered information I finally decided that I wanted to be an engineer. Because I saw everything around me was built engineers and I thought that’s a very satisfying job to have.

I had never really fixed on one career until engineering. Before that I spent a lot of time changing my mind (maybe every few weeks or days!) – I wanted to do everything from be an astronaut, a writer, a doctor, an archaeologist and an architect! I have changed my mind about the type of engineering that I wanted to do though. I started off wanted to do Aeronautical Engineering in the Royal Air Force, but when I had to leave because I got injured I changed my mind to Biomedical Engineering, which is what I do now.
