Question: is engineering important to you

yes, it is. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else (except for teaching physics).
Even when in school, my mind was kind of made up – I was either going to be an engineer or a physics graduate. (I think with both my parents being science/engineering graduates and an elder brother studying engineering did have a big influence!)
