Absolutely. Currently there are more males than females engineers here but the number of females as a ratio to males is rising. Actually our Managing Director is female as was my previous Team Leader. There is no barrier to female engineers that I am in anyway aware of, nor should there be.

There are opportunities for everyone in engineering. There are still some views that persist regarding the suitability of men and women to different jobs but through increasing diversity in the workforce we are proving all of these idea to be untrue. Anyone can succeed in engineering whatever their gender! Even though we are seeing more women in the engineering and STEM workforce, there’s still not an even mix between men and women and a way to go. Hopefully be increasing the visibility of women in STEM and seeing more and more role models, (and events like this), we can inspire the next generation of engineers both male and female!

The opportunities are being made equal. However, the gender gap is still there. One of the reasons for this type event is to make young girls aware they can have a career in engineering. Only with them (you) applying for these jobs the gap will be none.
I have always worked in the teams that I was the only female but in now not only we have 4 of us ina team of 14 but our manager is female too and she is really good as well. I think she is a second ever boss I genuinely like. -

They should be, but sadly that is not yet the world we live in and there is measurable gender gap in participation and in salary.
I really do think that things are changing for the better though. Let’s all be part of that solution.
