First off you have to think of you would actually go. I totally would! Some people might not want to as it can be quite a scary prospect, especially if it were say a potentially one-way mission to colonise a new world such as Mars. Who I would take with me would depend on the type of mission. Ideally you want a team on any mission that have of a combination of all the skill sets you might need over the mission lifetime. Think about the roles, even in your classroom or in any sports teams, who is the leader? Who might be the medic/doctor? Who has the specialist skills needed for any maintenance or scientific experiments? You also have to think about how these people will interact with each other. Lots of studies have been done about the effects of essentially being stuck in a tin can for a long period of time and how that effects how people behave. So I think this question is actually quite a tricky one! I mean if we ever get to the point of things like Space hotels I would obviously want to go with my partner or family, but if it were for a specific mission, it would be about finding the right person for the right role. Who would you take?

Hmmm, a very interesting question. I always dreamed of going into space. If it was a leisure trip, I would take my close family (sister, mum, dad, my nephew) and my partner. If it was a mission, it would have to be carefully chosen team of competent people with various skills.

Space travel isn’t for me as its still in its infancy and a bit too short on comforts for my liking. I think of it as being like the early days of sea travel and crossing the Atlantic in some leaky and creaking wooden ship. These days in modern ships it would be very comfortable and pleasant to cross the Atlantic but back then it would have been dangerous and very unpleasant. I’ll leave it those who have greater sense of adventure than me and who are quite a bit younger too.
