Question: Do you feel good designing heart valves because you are saving people's lives?

It feels good to know that the work I do, and the work of lots of other biomedical engineers, will help other people in some way. Hopefully my valve design will improve lives or make a positive contribution but there are other ways I can help too.

I can help students when I teach about heart valves and how to design them, and one day those students might design a life saving heart valve. I also can help when I write about valves for articles and book chapters.
