Question: Do you have any engineers that you are inspired by?

I’m inspired by engineers all around me, not just the high profile ones, but those who work hard to make small improvements in the way parts are designed, made and services are delivered.

Of the high profile engineers, Ping Fu, co-founder of 3D software development company Geomagic who’s software I use routinely is an inspiration. She grew up in difficult circumstances and has made a huge contribution to software engineering whilst retaining ethically sound principles.

Going back in time, I can appreciate the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who brought sheer scale combined with creativity to the field.

In surgical applications, I admire the work of Andy Christensen, who set up a company called Medical Modeling Inc in the USA. He has helped to pioneer the use of technology in surgery for many years.
