I would say that I apply so many and often without realising it. This question made me think about all of the different times I have to use these principles.
Mostly the ones I use are mathematical like calculation of matrices, calculus and trigonometry. Fortunately most of that is done by a computer but I have to know a bit of what is going on under the surface.
The Engineering principles that I use most are related to materials and how they stretch and break. The principles of how and why things vibrate are also useful to me.
They apply to a lot of my tasks. As Matthew said, a lot of what’s done now is through a computer but if I didn’t know the principles, I can’t use a computer to solve it as I wouldn’t know where to start or what to look for!
Probably yes, but it’s not always obvious how. Science has been used to develop and validate most of the materials I use and maths has been used to assist in the development of software and hardware I use. I use the end result of all that hard work, but my skill set is more design and application of engineering.
