• Question: What Alevels did you do and how relevant are they to your job at the moment?

      I did physics, maths and biology. My job is based on the engineering fundamentals such as maths and mechanics. I use maths and physics on daily basis. For example, I use basic mechanics and physics concept to estimate muscle forces in fingers.

      I did maths, physics and product design. For Biomedical Engineering, maths and physics are essential to solve engineering tasks such as to build a pump that acts like the heart to push blood around.

      Biology could be useful but you don’t have to do an A-level in it. I didn’t take biology but I know a lot about how the heart works now. You learn a lot about the human body as you go along.

      I did Maths and Mechanics, Design and Technology and Chemistry. I use the Maths and Mechanics to this day. The other subjects got me onto my career path on a university course but I don’t refer back to the technical knowledge from them very often.
