Question: What qualities do you think an aspiring cardiothoracic surgeon should have?

I can’t speak about surgeons in general, but I think maybe having an interest in the new technologies being developed for the heart could help. There are systems like left ventricular assist devices or total artificial hearts that help people waiting for heart transplants. Engineers are working to make them better such as by making them smaller so they’re not so heavy on the patient.
