When I was younger I thought of someone who built bridges or new how a car engine worked. That was probably because my dad is a Mechanical Engineer and those were the kinds of things he talked to me about. At that age, I never considered Engineers helping to solve medical problems though.
I guess when I was young I thought an engineer was someone who fixed things like a mechanic. In a way engineers do fix things, but we use a lot of equations, problem solving, computers and design to build better medical devices for people.
When I was young, it conjured images of people who build large structures, cars, planes etc. I’ve since learned in encompasses a huge spectrum of specialties from healthcare to space exploration, software development.
When I was younger I thought an engineer was someone who fixed big machinery in factories. Over time I’ve seen how there can be so many aspects and types of engineering.
