I chose to be a medical engineer because I like that I am creating things that make a difference in people’s lives.
I am developing new hip replacements that will reduce the risk of infections, this means people will be in less pain and are less likely to have to go back into hospital, so they can lead healthier happier lives 🙂
I chose this because I’m really interested in manufacturing and electric vehicle batteries, so this role on this project was perfect for me. I was also really interested in going into research and what it might involve. My mum used to work in research before she retired and I also really enjoyed my degree at university so it was a good match that way too.
Plus the fact that automaton and robots in manufacturing is becoming such a large focus was also what convinced me.
I chose to be an engineer because I like solving problems and designing things. I chose the nuclear industry as it has some of the most complex and challenging problems in the world and they are of very high importance!
Hi Anisaa, I am a civil engineer which means I am involved with the “built environment”. This includes things like roads, motorways, bridge, canals, houses, skyscrapers, dams, sewer systems, tunnels, cool underground basements…. the list goes on!
Imagine a world without any of those things. Imagine a world where you have to walk miles across rough tracks to collect a bucket of water so you can brush you teeth or have a drink…
That’s why I became an engineer, to make everyone’s life easier, safer and better.
My dad was a petroleum engineer and I looked up to him when I was younger so initially wanted to be a petroleum engineer. As I grew older, I kind of started seeing what I was good at and what I enjoyed (which was mainly mathematics and science) and eventually chose electrical and electronic engineering because i quite enjoyed dealing with hardware and fixing stuff.
I really love cars, taking them apart and putting them back together. Its something I bonded with my Dad over because he loves cars and my brothers because they are also into cars and motorbikes
My whole family also works in the automotive industry my two brothers, sister, sister in law and Dad all work for an automotive manufacturer.
Like Fidel, I had construction toys when I was a kid, mechano, lego, kenex which I loved to play with and build models.
