If you like robots I bet it’s great.
Loads of stuff is built by robots these days and it’s likely that robots will be used for more and more (a Driverless car is a type of robot for example)
The Mechanical Engineers amongst us here will know a lot more about robots and robotics than me.
In construction there is work going on to have automatic machines (they count as robots right?!) build anything from roads to skyscrapers. All you need to do is feed them materials.
Robots to 90% of the work out on out factory floor. Personally I love watching them. It’s definitely a field to go for, as (like Pete said) it’s a field that’s still advancing and will definitely be needed in future.
Did you ever watch Robot Wars? Go have a look and then try to not want to study robot engineering!!
Really though it’s a good field if you love doing it! Yes, it’s massive. Yes, it’s growing. But is it something you think you’d enjoy when you’re working long hours to get that final Control Systems project in? If you’re not sure, a load of the BAE Systems Research team swore by Lego Mindstorms as a way to try out robots or maybe try out making your own?
Best of luck, it sounds like an awesome field to work in!
Yes – definitely! There are all sorts of applications of robotics – from toys to prosthetic limbs, to drones, to household aids! It’s bound to become more and more important in the future. Oh – if you like robots – read the Foundation book series from Asimov – it’s a classic.
