      I get up at 6.00am and get home at 6.30 the day fly’s by!

      It really depends on the job:

      On the Seismic ships I worked 12 hours a day (although we usually did a bit more that that)

      On the tall ships I would work from 0800-1800hrs then I would be duty engineer every other night. As duty engineer I would do a check of al the engineering systems at 2200hrs (which would take at least half an hour) and I would have to react to any alarms during the night or wake up if the Captain wanted me on the bridge.

      If I was working on the docks I would do a “normal” 0830-1800hrs type of day.

      Like a lot of engineering offices I have flextime which means I have a set number of hours a week I have to work which I can fit it how I want, within reason. So I tend to work from about 8am to 4.30-5pm Monday to Friday. If i have an urgent project I sometimes have to go over these hours but that’s only every once in a while.
