When we are alongside on a ship and we want to move equipment between the ship and dockside, the changing tide will alter clearances for the cranes and change the height of any potential fall or drop.
Leaving or entering a harbour, the tide will either follow us or work against us. If the tide is against us then we have to get more power out of the engines to stay at the same speed. However, if the tide is with us then the engines can be run slower, but we might have problems with our filters if the water isn’t flowing over them fast enough.
