      Hi, The building block qualifications you need are the Sciences, Maths and English. If you get those you can pretty much choose the engineering path you wish.
      Instead of studying A level you could consider going to college like I did and i was able to continue onto Polytechnic (now a University) to complete my qualifications. Hope this helps 🙂

      It’s useful to have a background in Maths and Sciences and I think the most common way to become an engineer would be to take A levels and then a degree. However there are lots of ways to get involved, such as apprenticeships with learning on the job which you might have seen advertised on the TV recently!

      The most common way of getting into engineering these days is to do a degree in engineering. There’s lots of different types of engineering you can choose from and most of them are quite broad so you can still go into different types of engineering jobs when you finish. Whatever qualifications you do make sure they’re accredited by an engineering institution like the Institute of Mechanical Engineers to make it easier to find a job.
