I took 12 GCSEs and the most relevant to engineering were Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
Do you have any options to choose from? My secondary school had specialist options for technology and I chose one which taught me about design and electronics which are also areas where engineers work.
Hi, I took O levels when I was at school. took Chemistry, Physics, Maths Geography, Art and English. As you may have spotted with Matts answer there is a theme in Engineering 🙂
As the others have said, the most important GCSEs for engineering are Maths and Science, particularly Physics. I also took Graphic Products where I learned about technical drawing which I also had to study at university. I’d also recommend a language like French or German because lots of big engineering companies work a lot with Europe and can sometimes send you abroad for placements.
Yes, have a good look at your D&T options. I took the “Resistant Materials” option because I wanted to learn how to use a lathe and drilling machine properly.
