I would look into an apprenticeship, I did and it was perfect for me. You still do the academic work in the classroom but you also do lots of practical work relating to the job you’ll doing at the end, e.g. engineering. the biggest advantage is that you get paid a salary while you study, because you are employed on a temporary contract while you are under training. There is no guarantee of a job at the end (so they can kick you off if you mess about) but you will get the qualifications if you pass the exams and if you do well you should be taken on fulltime at the company. Most big firms run apprenticeship schemes – your school career advisor should have details of local opportunities
