Sport science involved the application of scientific principles to exercise and sport. There are three main areas you study:
Biomechanics: the causes and effects of human movement.
Physiology: a biology based science which explores the ways the body responds to exercise and training.
Psychology: seeks to provide answers to questions about human behaviour in sport and exercise settings.
50% of the course was practical, so we had to do a lot of advanced P.E. classes that aimed to improve our fitness and make us athletes. This course opens up a range of jobs in the healthcare, fitness and leisure industries. For example you could become a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist or a sports coach.
