I’d say the electrode material that I am working on right now. I have made some devices before that worked well and that have been useful to other scientists but this is the first time where I have felt it is something that may actually be useful for people in the wider world.
I’d say when I built signal jammer, that’s a device that blocks all networks so it makes your phone look like it’s on air plane mode although you didn’t turn that on. It was really exciting when I tested it and everyone in the room lost signal! It’s useful for places like hospitals where there’s need for quiet.
I think it would be some software that made mine and my bosses lives so much easier – it stops us having to repeat things over and over again. I can spend more time doign better and more fun thing because of it!
Electronic ignition for my car when I was an apprentice – it was a little project i had in the days when cars had “coils and points” to product the timed sparks for ignition (google it). I produced a transistor circuit that generated a clean square wave and therefore much more efficient ignition. My little ford fiesta I had at the time ran like a dream!
