• Question: Did you have to go to uni to be a engineer

      You don’t HAVE to go to uni… Although I would recommend it both from a ‘fun times/memories’ point of view AND in terms of your future career potential.

      The other way in is through an apprenticeship scheme where you work in a workshop making things and do some learning modules (HND’s that sort of thing) too. People that train this way can apply for jobs as Mechanical Engineers but Electrical Engineers can do similar things too. In my office it’s about 60/40 in terms of who has a degree and who doesn’t (in favour of degrees…)

      You don’t have to but it helps! You could go via an apprenticeship scheme, work you work and also attend college.
