I didn’t get all A’s for GCSE and I’m an engineer so I guess the answer is no 🙂 An A Level in maths is pretty important if you want to do a degree tho as you need it to understand the basics of engineering but again if you don’t get an A don’t be put off engineering. You can still do it as long as your interested and willing to put the work in.

Nope you don’t NEED all A’s BUT it helps a lot if maths is something that comes naturally to you as many of the principles of engineering are maths based. Universities look at your A levels most closely (this is what they will base their ‘offer’ to you on) so a C at GCSE isn’t the end of the world, cos you’ve still got the chance to pull it back at A level. Also bare in mind that better A levels will mean you can get into better universities…

No, but it helps. You do need to have a Maths A-level to study engineering at university. If you wanted to become an engineering apprentice, you would need definitely a GCSE in maths, but I don’t know what grade (probably a C or better).

The grades are more relevant to the university. The better the ranking of the university the higher they would demand the grades to be. I remember when I applied for my undergraduate degree most of them where asking for 3 A’s in A-level others asked for 2 A’s and one B. So it all depends on the admission requirements of the University.
