Well there is plenty of room for more! We only make up a small percentage of people employed as engineers and it would be great to see more women working as engineers. I think that if girls are interested in learning engineering then nothing should stop them!
To be honest, I dont think schools do much to make girls interested as girls dont want to get there hands dirty but also have the image in their mind, that engineering is only for guys…
Well while I do have to visit construction sites I don’t have to get my hands dirty (maybe a little dusty!). It’s the good thing about consulting, you do the design but after that someone else does the actually installation, then you have to check it to make sure its all been done properly. There is still involvement on site but it’s not mucky work.
Yes! Some jobs in engineering are quite hands on, working in manufacturing and such. But others are less so. As a designer you can choose a role that is mostly office based but your still using your engineering skills. The great thing about engineering is it’s such a wide area to work in. If you like science then you will be able to find a suitable job for you even if you want to be out all day or in a nice comfy office.
That sounds like a good hing, so by choosing your career, you choose if you are in a nice office or out on the job. Sounds like a good career to follow up in!

So, you only get your hands dirty , depending on what you specific job entails?
