• Question: If I were to apply for a job where you work, would I also get to experience the rather frustrating, yet fun, doughnut challenge?

      No guarantees I’m afraid!

      That photo of people eating donuts was taken at a ‘graduate forum’ which is a day put on for new starters at STFC who come in through the graduate scheme/apprenticeship scheme etc.

      I organised that day and we decided to put on a dangly donut challenge. It has been used in another forum since then, but only once I think!

      do you mean the Doughnut as in the Synchrotron?

      We don’t have a synchrotron but we often visit them to do experiments on detectors and equipment.
      They are all doughnut shaped. Of course the biggest one in the world is the LHC….
