      I don’t know if it will be next but clean and efficient power sources are becoming more and more vital as we continue to use up natural resources. More research needs to be done into nuclear fission and other types of green energy like wave and geothermal.

      Optical computer processors – they’re being developed now, but probably won’t be available to buy for a few years.

      Additive Manufacturing (aka 3D printing/rapid prototyping), it makes creating almost any shape possible. If it takes off it will change the way products are made, and make a LOT of our current manufacturing techniques redundant…
