I mostly think of myself as more of a scientist, because I am doing research rather than doing specific designs for products that people want. But I am definitely an engineer at heart because I love to play with things.
I think the fact that I like knowing how stuff works and taking it apart is what motivated me on my current path.

Engineering fields are so diverse that there’s no one way really. But almost all professional engineers will at least have a degree.

As a kid I was inspired by fighter jets/F1 cars and the like. That was the inspiration…

Training – get good GCSE’s and A levels, then go to university and do an engineering degree (preferably masters)…

You can ALSO do an engineering apprenticeship. I would recommend the uni route but this is a good alternative if you don’t get the grades etc. You basically spend a few years in a workshop using the machinery and there are some exams too. Once qualified you can apply for jobs in an Engineering drawing office.
