Hiii! For me, an engineer is just a role in life. An engineer absorbs expertise, hones skills and solves customers’ problems. It’s like a teacher teaching a class, solving problems asked by students, and so forth.
Personally, engineering is about problem solving and finding the best solution – considering lots of factors. Usually there is no ‘perfect’ solution, so we have to try chose the best one considering safety (no 1 priority), cost, efficiency, timing etc.
For engineering, no day or problem is ever the exact same so it keeps me on my toes!
Often, it’s about understanding what your customers wants and needs are, which are not always the same thing and sometimes they struggle to tell you in detail what they are, so you have to gradually draw that out of them. This can involve a lot of patient conversations with a lot of people. You then have to design what they want and demonstrate that it really does what you agreed it would.
