Personally I would say that I haven’t invented anything specifically new, it’s more like we have been putting together existing technology to do new things. On the Rover two of the things that are new for Mars exploration are the deepest-ever drilling we plan to do, and the co-ordinated sample analysis between multiple instruments looking at the same sample.
