The rover is designed to look for signs of past or present life. There’s a sophisticated biochemistry lab inside the rover to analyse bits of Mars. We’ll drill down about 2 meters and collect what we hope are interesting samples. Of course we’ll also take lots of 3D pictures because we’re landing in a place we haven’t been to before, and we’ll look at the geology. We’ll also look up to see how dusty it is and try to better understand the Martian atmosphere.
