“How do planes fly?” “Why is the Sun so hot?” “Wait, the Sun … is a Star?” 🌟
Hello, I am Priscilla! I am a graduate mechanical engineer working at UKAEA. Ever since I was young, the science world has always fascinated me. When I am not dwelling with work, I love to dive into the lego world where my creativity can run wild.
A little background – I was born and raised in Malaysia and I came to the UK to pursue my studies. I am the first in my family to complete a Masters degree and be given the opportunity to study abroad. I completed my Masters in Engineering at the University of Southampton.
Also, I can speak 6 languages (half of them fluently)!
Here is a lego version of me with Hedwig in the background.. clearly stealing the spotlight.

My role is currently split between being a mechanical analyst engineer and a contract project manager.
I work under the STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) programme where its main purpose is to design and construct a prototype fusion energy plant.
My team focuses on the development and analysis of the in-vessel components that are in a Tokamak – a machine that is used to develop nuclear fusion power. I am also responsible for overseeing the collaboration of contracts between external suppliers and the team. After all, we need all the help we can get to make this nuclear fusion dream a reality!
This is to show that nuclear fusion can be used commercially as viable energy in the future. Basically aiming to replicate the power of the sun into a machine created on Earth! ☀️
Some images to show what the internal of Tokamak looks like and their in-vessel components (including but not limited to Blankets, Divertor, First Wall).
