My job is to help the environment. I work with composite materials, which are strong like metals but light-weight, if we can use more composite materials in our transportation we will have lighter aeroplanes/cars/ships, which means they need less fuel, which is both economically and environmentally better for everyone. in our company, there are also loads of research going on about improving/eliminating the things that affect the climate.
I think every job affects climate change in some ways. With the world we live it, we use electricity, we have to travel to get to work, we use equipment that requires energy, potentially produce a lot of waste. I really wish we could change it, but I think some of it requires a big big change that I can’t do alone.
I do, however, try and help protect the planet. I use as little paper as possible, I don’t print things out that I don’t need, I turn off my computer when I’m not using it and I plan out what I’m going to do before I use machinery/equipment that uses energy so I don’t waste it. I also take public transport to work.
