My level would be classed as general design and manufacturing….kind of.
I always keep my service as professional as I can, I keep the workshop and office tidy, always have clean overalls on, and I’m always open to discuss new projects with people who come in, as for fun…Yep always fun!!!
My company is a research company, and we have many different sections with people who have engineering degrees and experiences in different areas of engineering, and we offer solutions to other companies who are facing problems in their projects, or if they want to come up with a new technology. As a company we are expected to be professional, but that doens’t mean in our sections no one is talking or joking.
I’m at assistant in my level of engineering, which is the branch of water and environmental civil engineering.
It’s very professional and fun too, as everyone is really friendly, approachable and people do socialise outside of work together too.
Engineering is definitely both professional and fun! As I work at a great university, every researcher that I work with is super dedicated to their work. We each work on the “cutting edge” of our subject areas, which means we’re working on brand new things to push the boundaries of science and engineering. I’m lucky enough to work in an environment that is friendly and helpful too. Whilst we’re all dedicated to our own work, we are willing to share information and give feedback and help to our colleagues. With this collaboration and team work, we are able to progress further than working in isolation.
