To be honest it was luck.

But I did have a friend who went to Uni to study mechanical engineering at the time I was leaving school, and I decided to take an apprenticeship as a Toolmaker as I liked to make things.

I wanted to help people by doing something that I enjoy. I love physics and maths and coding and knowing how things work and why, but I also wanted to be able to have a positive impact on society/the planet. So I decided to combine those things and that’s how I ended up in Biomedical Engineering and working on prosthetics. I use my engineering skills to develop solutions for people that have lost their legs to enable them to have more comfortable lives and allow them to be able to walk and do activities that they couldn’t otherwise.

Engineers are behind everything you see around you. they save people lives, they make lives much easier. They might not be present in a surgery room, but if you look in that surgery room there are crucial devices that can help the doctors to do monitor the patient’s vital signs, which has been made by electronic and biomedical engineers. the way we can get around by simply getting into our cars/bikes or the way we just get into the plane and go for a holiday, it has all been made possible by many different engineers. Our mobile phones which we can’t be separated from are made by engineers. All the things around us that we use on a daily basis and we don’t even appreciate them are because of the engineers. That’s what inspired me to be an engineer. 🙂
