• Question: how many hours do you work a day

      I work 40hrs a week, but they are arranged differently to most people. At Brompton we work longer days, from 8.30am to 6pm. But, we work 9 days out of 14 instead of 10 days out of 14. So I get every other Friday off.
      It’s an old manufacturing tradition in this country to begin early in the morning but to close early on a Friday. It’s been that way at all 4 factories I’ve worked at. This is another version of that.

      I usually work 08:30 to 17:00 but some days I work later and some days I leave earlier. I also try to work from home one day a week to save n my commuting time. Every know and then I will go ona trip and have a longer day with travel involved but I try to get some time of later in the week instead.

      I now work from home most days but even when I am out I arrange my time around school times 0815 to 1530 or slightly later if I leav children in after school club. I work for myself and so I work on a night and on a weekend as necessary. It works for me and I do about 35-40 hours a week. The best bit is having no commute.
